The August bank holiday seemed to herald the unofficial end of summer so weren’t we lucky to have such a good one this year – apparently the best since records began. We are somewhat in denial here at the Home & Company office but it’s hard not to admit that the evenings are drawing in. We’ve received lots of information from Councils far and wide asking us to start early with messages about keeping warm and well in preparation for Autumn and Winter. Here are some of their top tips:
- Keep your home warm – heat it to at least 18c (65F)
- Make sure you are receiving any financial support you are eligible for
- Layer your clothing
- Don’t sit for longer than an hour at a time – get up and make a hot drink
- Contact your water and power suppliers to see if you can be on their Priority Services Register for older people and people with disabilities.
