Congratulations to the Queen on 70 years of service, what an achievement! And somehow it feels good to be celebrating as a nation after the last couple of Covid- dominated years. Whilst not nearly as impressive as the Queen’s milestone, we at Home & Company are also in a celebratory mood as we pass our 10th birthday. Time seems to have flown by! We feel so grateful to have such a fabulous team and such lovely clients to work with. It makes us feel so pleased that we embarked on this journey a decade ago. Whilst we are still a home help organisation at heart, we have been able to develop our services along the way so that we can continue to support clients as their needs change, aiming to providing a one-stop-shop.
Of course some things remain the same. We began with the idea that we wanted only top quality people on the team, people with life experience that could use their initiative and help with whatever needs doing. That remains as true today, and we feel it’s what makes Home & Company stand out. We’ve tried to think about all the things that help people to live well independently at home and so brought on board a range of specialists including gardeners, plumbers, handymen, footcare hair and beauty. We know it brings peace of mind to have people who have been properly vetted.
Our patch has expanded over the years. Although Brighton & Hove remains our main location, we have lovely teams covering The Deans, Lewes, Worthing & Haywards Heath. In fact currently we go from Worthing to Seaford along the coast, and up as far as West Hoathly to the North.
In addition to helping people at home we also visit many people in care homes, particularly if their family and friends find it difficult to visit. It’s so good to get out and about or know someone is popping by for a cuppa and a chat, or to bring some of your favourite treats.
Where friends and family are far away it can be really difficult to manage the day to day things we all need to keep life ticking along – like arranging hearing and eye tests, the myriad other health appointments, and working with the range of agencies that might be involved in someone’s care and wellbeing. Home & Company can provide a wrap-around service and coordinate and communicate all the various pieces of information to keep things on track. Inevitably nothings stays the same forever, and we are often helping clients and their families with deciding what’s next, whether that’s looking at bringing more care at home, looking at more supported living environments, or signposting to other professionals who can help with managing finances and legal affairs. We’ve made it our business to get to know a range of great people.
Over the past few years, in response to requests from clients and their families, we have brought together a team of highly experienced live-in carers to support people who need more care and are determined to stay in their own home. We are able to place carers permanently, but are also able to help following hospital stays or illness for short periods of time too. Do give us a ring if you would like to know more.
