Could your garden do with a tidy? Autumn is the ideal time to have a tidy so that it looks good throughout the winter months, and so that you’re ahead when Spring arrives. “Getting rid of the autumn leaves is a job in itself and it’s important to remove old stems from your border plants too” says Lee, our Home & Company gardener. Other advice for autumnal clearing includes: clearing away old crops from the veg patch; tidying your lawn edges; cutting down annual climbers and removing wooden supports to store indoors for winter; cleaning out bird boxes and feeders; and clearing out your pond. If you would regular help or just a one off pre-winter tidy then Lee is on hand to help.

If you’re conscious of wildlife in your garden remember to leave leaf piles and compost heaps in tact as they provide great hibernating habits for hedgehogs. And planting bulbs now can be very helpful for next year’s bees.

And once our gardens have stopped looking their best we can turn our heads to visiting some of the beautiful parks and gardens on our doorstep in Sussex. Aren’t we lucky to have Sheffield Park so nearby? It’s well-known for having the best Autumn colours in the country. If you would like to get out there during October but would struggle it do so on your own do get in touch – our team would love to accompany you.

It’s also a good time to get any jobs done on your property before the weather sets in.  Our builders and handymen can undertake any building repairs, decorating and plumbing jobs. If you think it might be helpful we can arrange for them to visit you to give advice and estimates. Just give us a ring. And in the meantime enjoy the last of the longer evenings!
